The Reception class (2017)
To enter the Reception class priority is given to children who are 4 years old before the 1st October 2017.
Unlike most Dutch schools, all children in the Reception class start school at the beginning of the school year.
Children who have been offered a place but are still 3 at the beginning of the school year
(i.e. whose 4th birthday is between 28th August and 30th September 2017) cannot start school full-time until they become 4. They can attend up to 5 half days by prior arrangement with the school.
Children who are entering the ID Reception class will receive home visits during the week of 21st August and start school on Monday 28th August. Parents will receive further information on this from the admissions staff.
Applications for Reception class 2018 and beyond
We do already hold a long waiting list for the reception classes of 2018 and 2019. Families can submit an application once their child has turned 1 year of age. However, the International department of the HSV is not part of the Gemeente Den Haag’s school registration process. Subsequently we cannot tell you at the time of application if you will be offered a place if applying for entry in September 2018 and beyond, as we work actively only with the coming school year (and for all year groups).
Please note that we do not admit children on their 4th birthdays as our reception classes are full at the beginning of the school year and parents should be aware of this when submitting an application.
